NASA Ames Research Center contains wetlands delineated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as "jurisdictional" wetlands, requiring compliance with the Federal Clean Water Act section 404 permitting regulations. The wetlands provide important habitat for wildlife, thus, NASA also coordinates with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the Fish and Wildlife Service Coordination Act, when considering activities in the wetlands.
